Sex & Somatics

A training for psychotherapists, physiotherapists, counsellors, coaches, and other folks working in the helping professions. Consent informed, trauma aware, sex positive, and anti-capitalist.

This weekend-long online foundations intensive will explore core teachings and practices in support of how to care-fully welcome and hold clients’ erotic stories and souls.

In our work together you will be invited to participate as someone who ‘wears many hats’ - a person who works therapeutically where topics regarding sex, pleasure, and gender might arise, and, as someone who is an an erotic being with your own rich landscape to learn from and deepen into. This weekend intensive is both an opportunity to engage in some of your own inner work and learning, as well as develop a toolkit to use with your clients.

Our work together is choice-based and experiential: it’s important that you move at whatever speed is right for you, for the purposes of exploring this body of knowledge for your own organic learning.

My intention is for us to practice weaving the information we’re learning together into ourselves during the training - for it to become embodied and embedded - so we might cultivate intuitive wisdom about these topics and integrate them in our own professional practices and personal erotic lives.

Together we will explore:

  • the challenges and dynamics of ‘the tyranny of normal’ and how this impacts ourselves and the erotic lives of our clients

  • co-creating new erotic cultures + values in the spirit of having ‘guiding stars’ to lead us towards more of what feels important

  • embodied tools for embracing pleasure (after all, we become what we practice!)

  • somatic consent + boundaries practices to support ourselves and our clients in connecting to inner wisdom and ways of knowing

Encouraged Pre-requisites:

  • A reverently irreverent attitude

  • A willingness to ‘not know’ and to feel uncertain

  • A capacity to suspend judgement, trust yourself, and take a gentle approach

  • A suspicion of binaries

  • A covert (or not so covert) agenda to welcome weirdness

  • A commitment to racial justice and disability justice

  • A reverence for the juicy, sticky, & messy pleasures of the body

Testimonials:

We invited Noah to join Our Landing Place for our annual team training this year. Noah provided 2 days of incredibly nuanced and deep knowledge and was able to seamlessly guide us through experiential and theoretical learning activities that were accessible to all of us, regardless of our levels of prior knowledge and training. Noah cultivated a safe container for us to be vulnerable and explore new ideas and strategies, which has increased our team's confidence in and ability to support our clients through Somatic Sex Education and Therapy. I can't recommend Noah highly enough.

I found our shared time together as a group really sweet, nurturing, affirming and informative! I was especially moved by your facilitation style and attentiveness to inclusivity, permission and honouring of each person in the shared container and I continue to reference the materials and concepts/insights we shared!

Everything [in the training] was wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the slowed pace and lots of time for questions, check ins, honouring people's experiences during the training

So many things went well. I have never been as present during a training as I was in this one and permission to show up in whatever way had a lot to do with it. […] I really appreciated this training and connected to it as an invitation to make intentional my embodied erotic practices in service of myself and my work in the world.

I think it was just the right balance of simple tools that can immediately be integrated into an established practice by weaving it into psychotherapeutic interventions I already know. […] I really appreciated Noah’s openness as an instructor and how many choice-points there were throughout the training. I felt empowered to engage as I wanted and also disengage as I wanted. I was so grateful Noah put this training together, it was exactly what I hoped it would be!

I participated in Noah's Sex and Somatics workshop and I'd like to offer a shout-out/endorsement for their training. Noah is a mindful and deeply inclusive facilitator, they shared many practical and meaningful resources that resonate with me personally and professionally. Noah encourages participants to share their wisdom on each topic for inquiry which resulted in a rich set of tools and insights!
